Jon Tauber

Director, Enforcement

Mr. Tauber oversees SERC’s enforcement team and is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction on enforcement legal matters, including the identification of trends, lessons learned, and best practices on risks to reliability and security of the bulk power system. 

Previously, Mr. Tauber was the Director of Strategic Policy and Advocacy at Consumers Energy, responsible for leading the company’s legislative and regulatory policy team. He oversaw the development of the company’s state and federal energy regulatory policy and strategy, including renewable energy siting and development, distributed energy programs, emerging technologies, and decarbonization. 

Prior to joining Consumers Energy, Mr. Tauber served as Managing Senior Corporate Counsel at the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (“MISO”). In this role, He managed MISO’s legal activities on federal regulatory and stakeholder initiatives related to wholesale energy market development, long-term transmission planning and regional resource adequacy.  

He also served in several roles at the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (“PUCO”), initially as an attorney examiner and administrative law judge presiding over electric regulatory and power siting proceedings. Later, Jon was appointed as the Ohio Federal Energy Advocate, leading an office responsible for advocating on behalf of the state’s retail electric customers at federal regulatory and administrative agencies.   

Mr. Tauber holds Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School and a Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University.
